On 12 September 1926, the annual grape harvest took place at Schnegg. Almost all the Schnegg residents, along with the harvest helpers they had brought with them, set to work early in the morning picking the Pinot Blanc grapes. Approximately 1,200 litres of must with a specific gravity of 95 Oechsle were harvested. After a hearty snack break with ingredients lovingly prepared by Gisela and Gerd N., work continued around midday with the Pinot Noir grapes. By around 4.00 pm, a further 900 litres with a must weight of 98 Oechsle had been harvested. The club members present subsequently decided that the 2026 Schnegge vintage should be vinified as a dry Pinot Blanc Spätlese and a Pinot Noir Weißherbst with a dark red hue and low residual sweetness.
The harvest party then rounded off the afternoon with the traditional Schnegge meal, which unfortunately could not be prepared by Kirsten W. this year as she was on holiday. However, the meat ordered from Lind’s butchers and the salads brought along were also very well received. As the sun set, the party finally dispersed and everyone said their goodbyes, looking forward to meeting again next year.
